About the Speaker Dr. Louis Mullinder:

Dr. Louis Mullinder is the current Registrar of the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. He achieved his Bacculaureus Procurationis at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1978 and from here went onto acquire his Masters degree in Homoeopathy in 2003. He completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Law through the University of Johannesburg and then in 2012 a certificate in Corporate Governance through UNISA. More recently he has furthered his training in short courses on Child rights and child law for health and allied professionals as well as Medical Negligence and Health Sector Mediation through the University of Cape Town in 2012 and 2016 respectively. His most recent achievements, through the University of Pretoria, include his M Phil (Medical Law and Ethics), completed with distinction. His dissertation was completed on a comparative study of the criminalisation of the violation of a corpse in context of traditional medicine in sub-equatorial Africa, including consideration of customary law.


Dr. Mullinders work experience ranges from enjoying private practice to lecturing at the University of Johannesburg and now as the Registrar of the AHPCSA. One of his many achievements included a most valued personal commendation on leaving the Protocol Division as Head of State Visits from Mr Nelson Mandela in 1997: ‘Best wishes to a hard-working and highly motivated diplomat, who has earned our respect’.
